Organising Strategies Aligned With What You Want to Achieve

In a previous blog post, I mentioned 5 reasons why you need to get organised.

A lot of the reasons mentioned connect to your pain points, caused by having a disorganised home. This being:
  1. High levels of stress
  2. Losing time looking for or maintaining possessions
  3. Wasting money shopping for things that are lost or not maintained
  4. Unhappy with how your house looks and feels
  5. Unhappy with constant consumption and producing unnecessary waste

The goal in addressing any of these pain points is to :
  1. Reduce stress
  2. Reduce time wastage
  3. Reduce money wastage
  4. Create a home you are proud of
  5. Take steps towards sustainable living
and home organisation is the path towards reaching these goals.

In the table below I outline some strategies you could focus on to reach your goals. You might have several pain points in your life and therefore several goals you would like to achieve. But you can’t do everything noted in the table below!

My suggestion is, out of the goals noted above, pick the one that really speaks to you. Which one above all others would you like to achieve in your life? When you have your answer, focus on that goal and use the table below to get some ideas on strategies you can focus on when organising your home:

For some context –  this outline is something I use when assessing a space in a short organising project. Often times its not an all or nothing – a blended approach works and allows me to tick many boxes. However if time is short and when I am looking to make immediate impact in a home, I will focus my work on key focus areas tied to what a client wants to achieve the most. I thought I would share it with you because it may give you some clues/ideas on what you can focus on when it comes to organising your home.
